ABOUT ME

PROFESSIONALLY:

I work collaboratively with clients to build on the strengths they already possess. I provide a safe and compassionate place for people to tell their story and create new stories involving self worth, healthy relationships, and a sense of empowerment. We will work together to enhance your feelings of happiness, calm, control, and confidence. I will help you learn new skills to better handle life transitions, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem, or any other life struggle that brings you to therapy.

I enjoy working with young adults as they face new challenges and are exploring their own values to experience the world as an adult. I am able to build rapport with adolescents and adults of all ages and I like to bring creativity and humor into therapy.

Before becoming an LPCC, I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with an MS in Counseling and previously attended Louisiana State University to obtain a BS in Psychology. As an undergraduate, I worked in LSU’s psychology department with other students. In graduate school, I focused my experience on working with young adults struggling with addiction, family issues, and difficulty managing life stressors. In the years outside of school, I have worked in a variety of settings including psychiatric facilities, addiction treatment centers, private practice, and university centers.

I have training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) which focuses on healthy attachments, expressing emotions, and rebuilding connections. I also have experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address maladaptive thoughts and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to encourage self-acceptance and healing.

PERSONALLY:

After living most of my life in Southern Louisiana, I made the move to California. While I will always miss the food and the music (not the weather), I believe this transition has helped me grow not just personally, but professionally. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, pottery, and reading mystery novels.
